How do you snack?

I don't know about the rest of the world,
but cold weather makes me
have the MUNCHIES.

This is what I would like to eat!
These are some pancakes I made for
breakfast one Sunday...

But...
I try to watch what I eat, so my munchies tend
to consist of lots of fruits.
The problem is that fruit does not fill me up at all.
So, for the last few weeks, my afternoon snacks
have involved each of the following...
a banana,
an apple,
 an orange,
some strawberries,
and
a box of raisins or a granola bar.
This all followed by a couple of bottles of water.

I do feel healthy eating all of this, so I guess all
is well, but it doesn't change the fact that
I would also LOVE to have about 6 Krispy Kreme doughnuts and a huge hot steamy Starbucks latte right now.

Willpower is very tough.
One thing that helped me a little, was the fact that I had
a nightmare recently that I was having to get stents put into my heart....YIKES!

Unfortunately,
the only one who can
make me eat right and exercise is me.
The bad dream did light my fire for a few days anyway.
I have managed to get in a bit more exercise and have continued on the fruit snack journey.

It never hurts to hear from others though.  I get so many ideas online, but I was wondering...
What are your favorite go to healthy snacks?
I could use some new ideas because now I am craving the apple pie that I made a year ago, pictured below...     :)

Love what you eat and eat what you love!  :)

(while still trying to make it kinda healthy)

  1. Sorry Sis, I got nothing. I just ate a brownie. I have to have my chocolate snack in the afternoon. I try to make it till 2:00 for it. I have fruit with my breakfast usually. If you figure out a way to get rid of the "snack urge" let me know!

    1. My biggest hurdle is keeping the yummy high calorie things away from me. I have learned to just not buy them because I can't eat just one of most anything. :) So far, I am only up a couple of pounds over the winter. Can't wait for spring! :)

  2. I'm with Selina, got to have my chocolate - preferably dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is healthy! And my other guilty pleasure snack is pork cracklin strips. I know they're not so healthy, but I have to have my crunch, and they are only 80 calories per serving. :)

    1. I agree, Evette. I always keep a bag of dark chocolate chips in my cabinet for "nighttime snacking". I have not tried the crispy cracklins though. I will have to check them out! :)

  3. I've been eating better too and I agree! Eating lots of fruit is great and it feels good to do but it does not fill me up. So I snack on toasted seaweed snacks, sunflower seeds, turkey or roast beef slices (roasted in the toaster oven, they taste like jerky but without the fat!), and smoothies, usually with banana, strawberries, and spinach :)

    1. Thanks for the new ideas, Jenny! I will have to try the toasted seaweed. Sounds healthy! I also like the idea of the meat slices. I never thought of toasting them, gotta try that! I know it would enhance the flavor. Thanks again!
